ISABELA CITY — The young and dynamic first-termer Councilor Ochoy Akbar is confident to win the election for the mayoralty post and for his entire slate in the upcoming May 9 elections.

Akbar is the son of the late former congressman Wahab Akbar and of present Governor Jum Akbar , who is also running for the lone congressional seat of  Basilan.

Ochoy’s running mate is incumbent Isabela City Mayor Cherry Santos-Akbar who is vying now for vice mayor. Both have  the strong support of the residents in the city.

The young Akbar graduated AB-Political Science in La Salle and studied also in International School in Manila.

“I’m  fully equipped to engage in politics in this city,” he emphasized.

The city of Isabela is known for its unstable peace and order which includes bombings and other criminalities.

“I will continue the legacy of my father  the late Wahab Akbar,  because he fought criminalities and developed Basilan,” Ochoy said.

“The priority of my governance, is peace and order because we cannot implement development projects if there is no peace. Development is next to peace and order then we develop our tourism and businesses will follow for a progressive Isabela,”  he added. — Monch L. Follosco with reports from Becky de Asis
