Local officials and multi-sectoral organizations in Mindanao are pushing for Rodrigo Duterte-Leni Robredo tandem, saying the Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential candidate will be a perfect complement and balance to his tough leadership style

“Ang isang mahigpit na ama, kailangan ng isang mapagkalingang ina upang mabalanse ang isang pamilya,” said a local official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“Sa lahat ng vice presidential candidates, tanging si Leni lang ang makakapagbigay niyan dahil alam naman natin na siya’y isang mabuting ina sa kanyang mga anak,” the official added.

Several organizations are also silently campaigning for a Duterte-Robredo tandem, believing that the two will be a perfect combination that will bring the country to greater heights.

“Habang si Mayor Duterte ay nireresolba ang problema ng kriminalidad sa bansa, si Cong. Leni naman ay nakatutok sa pag-angat ng mga mahihirap,” one of the movers of the Duterte-Robredo tandem said.

“Mahalaga na sabay resolbahin ang kriminalidad at kagutuman upang mas mabilis ang pag-asenso ng bansa,” the official added.

Recently, Robredo and Duterte topped the latest ABS-CBN Pulse Asia survey conducted from April 26-29 with 4,000 respondents.

Robredo garnered 30 percent, four percent higher than her previous rating in the survey taken last April 19-24. Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. slipped three points to 28 percent,

Robredo led Visayas with 42 percent and shared statistical leads in Mindanao with Marcos and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.

Duterte, for his part, kept his 33 percent rating for a second week in a row while LP standard bearer Mar Roxas and Grace Poe were in a statistical tie for second with 22 and 21 percent, respectively.

This marked the first time that Robredo both topped the Pulse Asia and Social Weather Stations (SWS) surveys.

Robredo tallied 26 percent to lead the latest SWS poll conducted from April 18 to 20 with 1,800 respondents while Marcos Jr. was one point behind.

The lawmaker from the 3rd District of Camarines Sur also topped the Bilang Pilipino April 13 and 14 SWS Mobile Survey Report and the SWS post-debate mobile survey last April 17.

Robredo garnered 30 percent in the Bilang Pilipino April 13 and 14 SWS Mobile Survey, three points ahead of Marcos while she was picked as clear winner by 33 percent of respondents in the SWS post-debate survey.

A lawyer for the poor, Robredo provided free legal aid to the marginalized sectors of society, including farmers, fishermen and abused women for a long time before becoming a lawmaker.
