The Philippines hopes to bid for the staging of the Miss World Beauty Pageant in Manila on 2013.

Thus, declared CQ Global Quest President Cory Quirino in a press briefing last Saturday, July 9, 2011,right before they conducted the local screening of 11 bets vying for slots in the forthcoming Miss World Philippines 2011 pageant at the Lotus Restaurant of the Grand Astoria Hotel.

Ms. Quirino reiterated this while appearing as guest on Cuentas Claras, hosted by 2nd District Rep. Erbie A. Fabian in last Saturday’s episode.

Quirino, the Philippines franchise holder of Miss World beauty pageant flew into the city for a 1-day screening of local talents upon the invitation of EBAF Production, its co-sponsor of the local search.

She explained Miss World is the longest running and most prestigious of all beauty and talent contest worldwide and originated from London, England.

She said the city has produced a number of beauty queens who went on to vie for honors in various national pageants before in Manila.
The Miss World Philippines beauty pageant will be held on September this year in Metro Manila with the winner taking home an unprecedented, one million peso in prize money and a condominium unit courtesy of SM Properties, a major sponsor of the beauty tilt.

She expressed optimism that hopefully the first winner of Miss World Philippines will be a Zamboanguena.
The winner gets to represent the country in the Miss World Beauty Pageant in London England a month later.
