Mayor Beng Climaco on Thursday dispatched a drilling rig to Curuan where residents have been plagued with water problems the past several weeks due to the long dry spell.

The mayor directed City Agriculturist Diosdado Palacat to deploy the drilling rig facility to the barangay upon learning that a sizeable part of Curuan had been experiencing water shortage as the community’s only water source have depleted brought about by the drought.

“We are deputizing the City Agriculturist Office and resources of government cay ta sufri ya gayot el maga residente na Curuan. We will utilizing the drilling rigs to help source out water,” she said in an interview.

The area affected by the water shortage is not served by the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD).

Meanwhile, the chief executive said the issue on water, power and social services to include medical assistance as well as burial assistance, apart from her priority thrust on security, health and education are among her priority concerns in her second term in office.

She expressed hopes that all elected councilors will support her initiatives and or priorities and set aside political lineage and color in an effort to ensure the welfare of the constituents.  — Sheila Covarrubias
