Luuk, Sulu cops secure poll well PDF Print E-mail

Chief Insp. Mohammad Isahac B. Maharail, police chief of Luuk municipality in Sulu has commended his men for a job well done in securing Luuk during the May 9 elections.

Maharail said the election in Luuk was generally peaceful and orderly.

Police and the Army forces were deployed in each precinct to safeguard the electorate in casting their votes.

Luuk has a total of 19,546 registered voters. It is accessible by land travel or by boat because the coastal town has a wharf. A battalion of Philippine Army troops with tanks were also deployed in the area to secure the election.

Because of the good of result of the election process,  Chairman Llunamyr M. Gargar of the Municipal Board of Canvassers proclaimed Mayor Allayon M. Arbison and Vice Mayor Nayala A. Hamsani as winners as early as Tuesday, May 10.

“ Wala ni isang voter na nasaktan dito sa Luuk kumpara po sa ibang munisipyo ng Sulu tulad ng Panglima Estino, Indanan at Pata,” Maharail said. — Allen Abastillas
