Because of his leadership and high-quality service, Boy Puri was again elected by Lamitan City constituents as councilor in the May 9 elections.

It is a record breaking stint for Puri who is now on his 19th term as city councilor of Lamitan City having been elected in 1992 to 2001 then from 2004 to 2013 and now a new fresh mandate hoping to continue until another three terms.

The councilor earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Ateneo de Zamboanga University. He holds a Master in Public Administration (MPA) degree Major in Local Governance from the Bukidnon State University in connection with the Philippines Councilor League Legislative Academy in 2015.

He became the first councilor in Lamitan City and in Basilan Province to avail of a professional level eligibility given by the Civil Service Commission pursuant to R.A. 10156.

As alderman of the city, he authored substantial resolutions and ordinances with positive impact to the people. He also served in other capacity as Peoples Law Enforcement Board member (2010-2013) and OIC secretary in the Sangguniang Panlungsod ( 2013-2015).

Recognizing his leadership, the Lamitan Jaycees elected him as president in 1992, elected president of the Rotary Club of Basilan in 2012 and charter member of the Lamitan Assembly of the 4th Degree of the Knights iof Columbus (ACN 3251).

His accomplishment as councilor garnered him several awards, among them “3” Termer Award twice in 2001 and 2013. The Outstanding Councilor of the Philippines in 2009 and awarded March 12, 2010 and also a national finalist in the search for the Ten Most Outstanding Councilor of the Philippines. He was the first councilor of Lamitan and in the ARMM region to be recognized for his achievements in the legislative performance which was awarded by the PCL, JCI-Phil. He was recipient of the Most Outstanding Jaycee in 1991, the Excellence Award and the Presidential Award given by the Lamitan Jaycees.

Joaquin “Boy” Perez Puri is the son of Joaquin Patulot Puri and Trinidad Perez Puri of Ibaan, Batangas and married to Josephine Zacarias Puri. They are blessed with three children Josef Luigi, Josef Paolo and JB Therese.
