A businessman was killed while his two companions were wounded in a highway gun attack in Boalan last Sunday afternoon.

Killed was Renira Lim y Francisco, 51, married, of Tala, Lumbangan. Wounded were Chris John Devivar y Tubog, 20, single, and his father Fausto Devivar y Superal, 48, married also of Tala, Lumbangan.

Initial investigation disclosed that Lim together with the father and son were riding a Willy’s type jeep heading home from a cockpit in Mercedes, when two men riding tandem on a Honda  XRM motorcycle chased them and the backrider opened fire with pistol near the entrance road to Tala, in Boalan, Lim sustained fatal bullet wounds in the body while the father and son were slightly wounded. They were rushed to the hospital where the former expired while undergoing treatment.

Police recovered four spent shells of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Authorities were looking into Lim’s job as manager of a local cockpit as possible angle behind the gun attack.—Dan Toribio
