Teachers hired under the Local School Board (LSB) will soon receive their new salary rates based on the Salary Standardization Law (SSL4) which implements a four-year salary increase program for government workers.

This, after Mayor Beng Climaco Wednesday signed the documents formalizing the implementation of the first tranche of salary increase and other benefits for the 90-teacher positions under the LSB.

Aside from the salary increase including additional mid-year and year-end bonus, also included in the documents signed by the chief executive were allocations for land improvement in school sites and school building projects as well as appropriations for home and away games/ division and regional athletic meets as requested by the Division of City Schools.

Assistant City Budget Officer Ferdinando Alvarez said the allocation totals P26.83 million and is covered under the 2016 Supplemental Budget No. 01 that was approved by the City Council last Tuesday.

The total allocation covers P10 million for home and away games/division and regional athletic meets; P1.118 million for salary increase and other benefits for elementary teachers; P1.755 million for salary increase and other benefits for secondary teachers; P2.9 million for land improvement and P10.8 million for school buildings, according to Alvarez. — Sheila Covarrubias
