7 soldiers injured in Jolo grenade attack PDF Print E-mail

Seven Army Scout Rangers were wounded in a grenade attack in Jolo, Sulu early Tuesday morning.

A police report disclosed that soldiers of the 10SRC 4SRB headed by MSgt. Jesus Raguindin were aboard a 6x6 truck on their way to their camp in Bud Datu, Tagbak, Indanan, after fetching some of their comrades at Jolo pier when a suspected Abu Sayyaf militant hurled a WW2 vintage grenade which exploded in the truck at Marina Street, Barangay Walled City.

The grenade disappeared after the explosion.

Wounded were Sgt. Zandro Sambrano, SSgt. Ferdinand Bisnar, Cpl. Juanito Taguiam, Jr., Cpl. Arth Manatad, Cpl. Louis Limmayog, Cpl. Arnel Pascual and Cpl. Calpasi Olli.

They sustained shrapnel wounds in their body and were rushed to the Trauma Hospital in Bus-Bus, Jolo.

Policemen and bomb experts recovered some grenade fragments on the 6x6 truck during a post blast investigation. — Dan Toribio
