Fans and supporters would have to wait another week to witness the city’s most elegant beauties grace the streets of Zamboanga.

This after the annual Festival de las Bellas y Flores, Zamboanga’s version of the Santacruzan, has been moved to May 28 to give participants more time to prepare.

The much anticipated highlight of the Summer Festival showcases the city’s colorful arcos accompanied by lovely muses dressed in vibrant gowns designed by the city’s top as well as up-and-coming designers.

Participating arcos, gowns and designers will then vie for the titles Most Outstanding Arco, Best Gown and Prettiest Señorita.

The criteria for judging are as follows: For arco - Originality (35%), Creativity (30%), Craftsmanship (25%) and Impact (10%); for gown – Craftsmanship (45%), Concept and Design (30%), Aesthetic Appeal (15%) and Impact (10%).

The prettiest señorita will be chosen according to the following: Beauty of Face (50%), Physique (25%), Poise and Posture (15%) and Stage Presence (10%).

Winning arcos shall receive plaques of recognition as well as cash prizes of P15,000.00 (1st place), P10,000.00 (2nd place) and P5,000.00 (3rd place).  A consolation prize of P1,000.00 will also be given to non-winning entries and a Certificate of Participation.

The top three gowns will receive P20,000.00, P15,000.00 and P10,000.00 while the three prettiest belles are slated to get P5,000.00, P3,000.00 and P2,000.00. — Claudine Uniana
