A worker of a fishing firm died while another was injured in a road accident at the Cawit Bridge in the west coast early yesterday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Jerry Jubilan, 35, married of Isla Noah, Zambowood. Injured was Anthony Buscato, 16, of Talon-Talon, both laborers of GMA Fishing.

A police report disclosed that a boom truck carrying several laborers was negotiating the west coast highway coming from the Mega Fish Wharf on the way to Talon-Talon and Zambowood around 3 a.m. to bring the workers home when the truck inclined to its side due to the road formation at the Cawit bridge, causing some of the workers to fall from the vehicle.

Jubilan fell under the truck and his head was run over by a tire killing him. Buscato sustained injuries in the body and was taken to the hospital.

The truck driver was placed under police custody while the truck was impounded temporarily.

The body of the victim was brought to a funeral parlor for post mortem examination. – Dan Toribio
