As part of the Operation Plan Bira Escuela program, the City Health Office has set fumigation activities and search and destroy operations in the different public schools in the city to minimize if not eradicate incidences of dengue fever in learning institutions.

City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos has tasked sanitary inspectors and other CHO staff to ramp up efforts in coordination with school officials for the smooth implementation of schedule.

Fumigation and search and destroy operations which seek to eliminate dengue carrying mosquitoes by destroying their breeding sites, are among the anti-dengue measures carried out by health officials.

The activities are set to start during the Brigada Eskwela week when the school community gather to prep up the school grounds for the opening of classes on June 13 and even during Saturdays and Sundays after the school opening.

The issue about fumigation and search and destroy operations was among the topics taken up during the meeting on Oplan Bira Escuela presided by Acting Mayor Cesar Iturralde and OIC City Administrator Dr.Elmeir Apolinario last Monday, intended to ensure a hassle-free and safe school opening. — Sheila Covarrubias
