Mayor Beng Climaco today will lead a technical team in conducting an ocular investigation of road excavations in the city, following complaints of vehicular accidents caused by these projects.

“Only to find out that these road excavations or drainage projects are congressional initiatives and none of these were coordinated with the local government unit,” Mayor Climaco said during her press briefing yesterday.

Climaco said she will tag along City Engineer Luis Despalo and City Disaster Risk Reduction Management head Dr. Elmeir Apolinario in conduction the ocular investigation to find out other excavation sites initiated by the congressional office through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The investigation will include other congressional initiated projects like the rip rapping in Sta. Maria that has collapsed, affecting several families in the area.

This afternoon, Climaco and the technical team will sit down with DPWH/District Engineer’s officials for coordination purposes.

Climaco recalled that during her time as congressional representative of district 1, all her projects were properly coordinated with the city government then under mayor now District 1 Rep. Celso Lobregat.

“But this is not being observed now,” the chief executive lamented.— Vic Larato
