Bandits engaged in extortion activities have harassed coconut farm workers at Sitio Lemon, Barangay New Salvacion, Labason, Zamboangadel Norte,

A Police Regional Office report disclosed that Cpl. Roderick Lamadrid of the 42nd, 9ID of the Philippine Army based in Barangay Osukan reported to the Labason Municipal Police Station that there was harassment incident that took place at the coconut farm.

During ocular investigation conducted by policemen led by Sr. Insp. Sergio Bihag, it was found out that while Endre Sota and some companions were harvesting coconut at the farm of Anjel Hussin, armed men led by Asmad Arasi and his 10  men all armed with high powered weapons fired their guns indiscriminately.

Sota and other workers managed to drop to  the ground and luckily no one was hit by bullets.

The gunmen left the place after the incident.

Police suspected the gunmen were trying to extort money from the owner of the farm. — Dan Toribio
