Celso, DPWH turn over Patalon school building PDF Print E-mail

District 1 Rep. Celso Lobregat and officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) spearheaded the official turnver of the newly-constructed (2) storey (2) classroom building in Patalon Elementary School Wednesday afternoon.

Lobregat, together with DepEd City Schools Division Supt. Pedro Melchor Natividad, DPWH District Engineer Chole Roble, Patalon barangay officials led by Hon. Gaudencio Rojas graced the said occasion which was witnessed by faculty members, parents and students of the said school.

The said building which is situated in the center of the school’s main campus  will serve as a center for learning of students who have suffered from shifting classes due to lack of classrooms in the said school.

Patalon Elemetary School principal Mrs. Evelyn Cabaniero revealed that the enrolment in their school has reached 1,180 students. With the addition of the two classrooms, the classroom-student ratio has resulted to 1:49. “We still need more classrooms to go down to the normal classroom-student ratio of 1:40.

With the present classroom-student ratio, Lobregat discussed immediately the matter with Patalon chairman Gaudencio Rojas, City Schools Division Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad and DPWH DEO Chief Engr. Chole Roble on the possibility of constructing another two-storey or 3-storey classroom building in the said school.

Lobregat immediately instructed the District Engineer’s Office to measure the possible site where the said building can be constructed and also advised the DEO to take into account the road widening requirements of the national highway.

“As always I will not promise but will do what is necessary,” Lobregat said.

Mrs. Cabaniero added that for a very long time, they have been praying that any government official would hear their plea and she was very glad that their prayers were answered having such project which is very vital in the learning process of their students.

“It is indeed an answered prayer, Congressman Lobregat was made an instrument to facilitate and deliver our needs, we hope he will continue to help us in Patalon,” Cabaniero added.

Barangay chairman Gaudencio also said the barangay officials and residents of Patalon expressed their utmost gratitude to Cong. Lobregat for his countless initiatives in pouring resources of the government to their village. – DEXTER YAP
