The City Agriculturist Office on Tuesday, June 14 continued distribution of assistance to drought-stricken farmers from the Ayala District as part of the government’s program to help alleviate the plight of the affected sector.

Hundreds of farmers trooped to the Ayala Agricultural Field Office to receive the assistance facilitated by the City Agriculturist Office under Diosdado Palacat. Among the items distributed were rice bags at 25 kilos/ bag, organic fertilizers, vegetable and corn seeds and cassava cuttings.

On Thursday, June 16, the distribution will be for Tumaga District farmers at the Tumaga Agricultural Field Office.

Last June 2, the distribution covered over 500 farmers in Curuan District while last June 8, the distribution covered farmers in Vitali District. June 9 was the schedule for farmers in Culianan District.

The rice, fertilizers, seeds and other farm implements are only some of the assistance package given by the government to farmers affected by the dry spell. Other forms of assistance included the food and cash for work program, free use of drilling rigs and other programs.
