District 1 Congressman Celso L. Lobregat on Tuesday gathered the beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program (GIP) who who have performed well and had an experience working in a government office like regular employees.

The GIP Program is an intervention by the national government, the Barangay Sector and the Congressional Office and being implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to give temporary employment to graduates who are interested to pursue a career or seek employment in government.

Some 50 beneficiaries are currently working in government offices like OWWA, TESDA, POEA, PRC, NCMB, RTWPB, NLRC, DOLE-ECC, DOLE-TSSD, DOLE-IMSD, PHILFIDA, DOLE-ZCFO, POPCOM, PIA, SUCS and ZAMBOECOZONE. They  gathered together and exchanged views and personal practices acquired while undergoing the said program.

During the open forum, the beneficiaries shared at random their unforgettable experiences in working with government institutions where they were assigned by their superiors. Other shared their memories and the respective tasks given them by the heads of office. Many others recalled their first exposure in working in a public office learning what their parents or family members do when performing their respective jobs in government institutions.

The students lauded Rep.  Lobregat for giving them the opportunity to avail of such program which is very helpful to them as some recipients of the program are now absorbed as contractual workers of the same agency where they were assigned.

In response, Lobregat gave a piece of advice to the beneficiaries which has become valuable not only to the GIP members but also to their family.

The solon also gave some guidance to the students to pursue their chosen career and also in return help their parents when they are able to land a good job thru this GIP Program.

Lobregat has been consistent in allocating funds for this program because of his belief in establishing a strong foundation for the youth in pursuing their career thru their experiences gathered by way of the GIP Program.

“The GIP Program is very helpful to the students because they earn while they learn and this is favorable in establishing their future career,” Lobregat said. — Dexter Yap
