Lamitan City’s newly elected officials led by Mayor Rose U. Furigay and Vice Mayor Roderick H. Furigay took their oath of office Saturday night.

The oath was administered by Judge Danilo Bucoy and the ceremony was held at Lamitan City Hall Garden.

The occasion coincided with Lamitan City’s  9th Founding Anniversary with awarding night.

The newly elected councilors are Rima Hassan, Clarito San Juan, Boy Puri Jr., Arleigh W. Eisma, Noel D. Baul, Mayra Kallahal, Sali Polo, Nur-in Akbar, Malik Uyag and Ajid Dalawis.

Mayor Furigay express gratitude to all the people who supported her party and voted her during the May 9 elections.

In her message, the mayor recalled the hardwork and dedication of her husband Vice Mayor Furigay who was the mayor in 2008.

As mayor then, Roderick Furigay travelled many times to Manila. fighting the case in Supreme Court for Lamitan’s cityhood.

She said that sometimes she doubted her husband on his frequent  travel to Manila because of the cityhood.

She revealed that she kept on praying on her husband’s travel, and found solace knowing his constant companion was Councilor Boy Puri Jr., a close friend of the Furigay  couple.

Ms. Furigay said when the cityhood case was won in the Supreme Court  she thanked “the Good Lord for the success.”

Furigay lauded her husband for a job well done and sincerity and dedication. “The dream becomes reality for the cityhood of Lamitan.”

In her second termas mayor,  Furigay assured the people she will continue the delivery of basic quality services to the people for peace and development.

She urged the people and all stakeholders  to stay united and solid to make Lamitan City progressive and peaceful.

During the 9th Founding Anniversary awarding night Saturday, former mayor Wilfredo C. Furigay was given recognition together with Earl Francis Pasilan and Col. Rolando Joselito Bautista. Certificates of appreciation for supporting Reaching Out Serving Everyone ( ROSE ) health Caravan were given to Sr. Inspector Gean Gallardo, Chief of Police Lamitan City, 104th Brigade, 3rd Scout Battalion, Regional Public Safety Company, Provincial Public Safety Battalion, 53rd Special Action Force, 1307th Dental Dispensary, JHPIEGI Mindahealth, Provincial   Veterinarian Office, PCG Zamboanga Station Lt. Jr. Commander  Jimmy Verbo, Dr. Maryvy  Lee – Yu, Dr. Khristine Delgado and Dr. Nurhina Aranan and MACFI. — Allen Abastillas
