District 1 Congressman Celso Lobregat has mobilized resources from his congressional office together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) for the scheduled distribution of relief assistance to fire victims in Barangay Sta. Catalina today.

Lobregat said that in times of crisis, he does not see any political boundaries nor representations to extend the necessary assistance to the victims of any disaster in the city.

The solon coordinated with DSWD Friday  for joint efforts in providing some of the basic needs of the fire victims who are sheltered at the Don GEMS Elementary School.

“If we offer help to our people, we don’t look into them as to what district they belong, we see them all as our constituents – they are Zamboangeños and therefore we must lend a helping hand,” Lobregat said.

He    said that upon learning about the conflagration in Sta. Catalina Tuesday night, he told his personnel to monitor and prepare the items which can be shared to fire victims.

The solon said that even if similar incident happens in his district, he is pretty sure that those constituents from other parts of the city will also share their blessings and assist those who are in need.

“We always invoke the spirit of unity and kindheartedness to our fellowmen, it’s the attitude of Zamboangeños, ta man ayudahan kita todo en tiempo de crisis,” Lobregat said.

Lobregat is also appealing to local residents who have much in life to also share their blessings to the fire victims of Sta. Catalina by way of donating used clothings, food stuff, kitchen utensils and other basic needs thru the DSWD. – Dexter Yap
