Crime group leader, 2 men killed in Sibuco shootout PDF Print E-mail

The leader of a criminal group and his two followers based in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte were killed in a firefight with police operatives at dawn Friday.

Police Regional Information Officer Supt. Roger Alabata identified the fatalities as Jamaruddin Alih, alias Boy Takas, his son Nurjin Alih  and a certain Danny Kairal.

Alabata said that policemen of the Sibuco Municipal Police Station swooped down on Sitio Looc, Barangay Lakiki to serve a warrant of arrest to Boy Takas.

Takas and his men however resisted resulting to an exchange of gunfire that lasted for more than one hour.

Takas, his son Nurjin and Kairal were killed on the spot while a policeman identified as PO1 Usman Iyoh sustained shrapnel wounds from a grenade the suspects lobbed on the lawmen.

The older Alih had standing warrant of arrest for murder, rape in relation to RA 7610 and frustrated murder with case numbers 938-841.

The warrant was issued by the RTC 9, Branch 27, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

Alabata said the group of Alih was involved in criminal activities like extortion, illegal drug trade, cattle rustling, robbery, ambuscade and killing of prominent personalities.

Alih’s son Nurjin has also a warrant of arrest for murder while Kairal was also in the drug watch list of Sibuco Muncipal Police Station.

Recovered from the encouinter site were a.45 caliber pistol, a magazine for M14 rifle and several rounds of ammunition. – Dan Toribio
