A father is in hot water after he stuffed his 11-year-old son in a sack for several hours as a disciplinary action in Mercedes last Saturday.

A police report disclosed that the boy failed to return home for two days, angering his father, Areo Ponce, who had desperately gone searching for him

It was gathered that last Saturday the boy went home around 10 a.m.. Ponce grabbed and stuffed him into an empty sack.

Police said that Ponce hanged the sack inside their house then left home to sell vegetables downtown.

The incident was reported to the Regional Public Safety Battalion checkpoint around 5 p.m. by some vigilant neighbors.

Men of RPSB9 and the Culianan police station rushed to the house and rescued the boy who was already weak and hungry inside the sack.

Ponce escaped after he learned that his son was rescued by the police.

Police said that Ponce will be charged of child abuse in relation to Republic Act 7610. – Dan Toribio
