The Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) is conducting a search for the Best Mentor in Health Research for the year 2011. 

The award aims to recognize the works of the research mentor specifically his/her contribution to the capability building of human resources in health research.  It also aims to stimulate and sustain the research mentor’s passion for research, thereby enabling the students, colleagues and new/beginning researchers to pursue health research.

The nominee must be: a) a Filipino citizen, b) at least a holder of an undergraduate baccalaureate degree, c) actively involve in mentoring a researchers/students or colleagues, d) professionally involved in health research activities either as research program-project leader, principal and co-principal investigator, mentor/adviser/trainer or author/co-author, and e) actively involved in promoting health research such as conduct of research training and extension work, paper presentations, fund generation, research promotion and networking, research agenda setting, and capacity building activities.

Self-nomination is not allowed. Similarly, current members in the PNHRS Research Capacity Building Committee cannot be nominated for the Search.

The nominating party maybe any of the following: a) head of the nominee’s institution or immediate supervisor, b) colleague/s, c) trainee/s and d) student/advisee.

Each regional winner (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and NCR) will receive a cash prize of P100,000 plus a plaque of recognition and the national winner will receive a cash prize of P200,000 plus trophy during the PNHRS Week Celebration in August 2011.
