Thirteen families were affected by landslide Tuesday night at Sitio Corote, Barangay Malagutay, Zamboanga City.

Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, head of the city government disaster risk reduction, said that one family opted to temporarily stay at the Malagutay barangay hall while the others with their respective relatives.

No houses were damaged and no injuries were reported to the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) during the incident.

However, Apolinario said that the families were forced to evacuate a precautionary measure.

The city government will also check on what assistance can be given to the affected families.

“We have to do some preventive measures,” Apolinario stressed.

Heavy rains may result to flooding, storm surges, and landslides. These might result to damage to property and evacuation if not mitigated.

Apolinario assured that the CDRRMO is prepared for any eventualities as they have their trucks, life vests, rubber boats, and trained personnel. — R.G. A A. Go
