Having been exposed to and effectively managed various crises since she assumed office in 2013, Mayor Beng Climaco was invited last week to share her experiences in crisis management with other local chief executives in the country.

Climaco was among the resource persons in the Basic Orientation for newly elected mayors organized by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Local Government Academy.

In her talk, Climaco focused her presentation on how the city government under her leadership as crisis manager effectively managed the pressing problems, issues and concerns brought about by the siege in September 2013.

Part of her sharing was her experiences in the House of Representatives, having been a congresswoman for District 1 for two consecutive terms (six years), during which she had the opportunity to serve as deputy house speaker for Mindanao.

“With God’s grace we are contributing to help our fellow mayors help our people,” the city chief executive said.

As this developed, Mayor Climaco along with other elected city officials will take their oath of office this morning in simple but fitting ceremonies in City Hall.

Climaco is on her second term as mayor of Zamboanga City.

With her to take their oaths are Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde and the members of the City Council together with congresspersons Mannix Dalipe of District 1 and Celso Lobregat of District 2. — Vic Larato
