City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos has announced that the City Health Office (CHO) has already lifted the Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) outbreak in Zamboanga City Monday since the cases of AGE is now low.

Agbulos said they lifted the outbreak status of AGE in Zamboanga because the number of cases admitted in hospitals has decreased as well as cases of diarrhea and AGE in health centers were also down.

However, despite the lifting of the outbreak status, the city health officer is still reminding the public to be careful especially on what they eat and drink.

“Hende puede yan lift el outbreak status safe ya kita. With the rainy season coming in el sanitation and personal hygiene importante,” said Agbulos in an interview.

From March 28 to June 24, 2016 the CHO registered a total of 3,771 cases of AGE.

Recall, last April 25, 2016 Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar signed executive order BC 174-2016 declaring a gastroenteritis outbreak in Zamboanga.

The barangays in this city affected by Acute gastroenteritis (AGE) includes: Sta Catalina; Sta Barbara; Zone III; Divisoria; Calarian; Mampang; Guiwan; Tigtabon; Boalan; and San Roque. — R.G. A A. Go
