Congressman Celso Lobregat performed his first official function Thursday right after being sworn in as re-elected House representative of District 1 by way of administering the oath of government service or the so-called “Juramiento del un empleyado de govierno” to 40 personnel tapped  to work under the emergency employment of the Congressional Special Project Fund dubbed as “TulongPanghanapbuhay Sa Ating Disadvantages Workers” (TUPAD) under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) which is the key implementor of such program.

The simple but meaningful ceremony was held before noon at the Sta. Catalina barangay hall, in the presence of the barangay officials led by its newly-assumed barangay chairman Boy Arabi and representatives from the DOLE Regional Office IX led by Labor Officer Engr. Wesley Tan.

“Iyo congresista del District 1, pero ya queda yo alcalde de antes por largo tiempo, poreso sabe yo paquilaya el problema si tiene maga calamidad ta socede nuay destrito-destrito, ta ayuda yo hasta donde ta fuede asisti,” Lobregat said.

It was followed by the signing of contract between the workers, the newly-designated barangay chairman and the DOLE representatives in the presence of Rep. Lobregat.

Lobregat takes no delay in deploying the personnel who are needed in the evacuation center at Don GEMS Elementary School where the concerns on health and sanitation are rising among the hundreds of evacuees including elders, men, women and children.

The solon also distributed protective gears and uniforms to the male evacuees who are fire victims themselves and will be working under the cash-for-work program.

These workers recommended by the barangay will help in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation at the evacuation center, security and drainage system. They will be directly supervised by the barangay council in their respective work assignments. – Dexter Yap
