A radio anchorman, his 12-year old son and a bystander landed at a local hospital after unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants shoot them Thursday afternoon in Surigao City.

Police report from Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office reaching the regional police headquarters on Friday disclosed that victims Saturnino Sator Estano, Jr. known also as “Jun Estano,” 40 and anchorman of DXRS-Radio Mindanao Network and his 12-year old son Anjoever Saturnino Estano III had just arrived at their residence at Purok 2, Sitio Bioborjan Settlers, Brgy. Rizal in Surigao City when the motorcycle-riding gunmen on board a black XRM motorcycle without a plate number suddenly appeared from behind and shot them. Estano, Jr. was hit three times at his back while his son was hit at the left upper chest, the police report said.

A bystander also identified by the police as Allan Tinambakan Canibel, 52, was also hit at his right shoulder during the shooting.

The gunmen fled on board the same vehicle after shooting the victims.

The victims were rushed to Surigao City Medical Hospital and Caraga Regional Hospital for immediate medical attention.

Responding policemen found four pieces of spent bullet shells outside Estano’s residence. Two cartridges were also found outside and near the front door of their residence while two slugs were recovered inside their house.

A thorough investigation on the incident is ongoing, according to the police report.
