Congressman Celso Lobregat of District 1 and three councilors voluntarily submitted themselves for drug test Friday at the City Health Office in Petit Barracks.

Lobregat together with Councilors BG Guingona, Boday Cabato and Charlie Mariano proceeded to the CHO Laboratoryaround 1:30 p.m. where Medical Technicians Candelario Garcia,Jr and Ryan Linganay conducted the drug test.

City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos was during the drug test.

“We are here to submit ourselves to drug test and we fully support the fight against drugs as declared by President Duterte,” Lobregat said, adding, “we should lead by example.”

The media was on hand to cover the process.  RJ Rosalado of ABS-CBN News and Bhong Simbajon of RMN Network, impressed by Lobregat’s initiative, voluntarily asked that they also undergo the same drug test.

The results were immediately released by the medical technicians and all were negative.

Lobregat, Cabato, Guingona,Cabato, Mariano, Rosalado and Simbajon were all tested negative.

“I am glad that Congressman Lobregat initiated this move and personally invited me to set as good example to our people and show them that we are advocating a drug free society. We must take the first step as elected officials,” Mariano said.

Councilor Cabato, on the other hand, said that voluntary drug testing is being conducted in Barangay Baliwasan hence he immediately accepted Lobregat’s invitation to undergo drug test on the very first day of his service as a city councilor.

Councilor Guingona also said that he is encouraging other government officials to do same.

“I also encourage all our colleagues in media to also undergo voluntary drug test to also clear our industry on drug issues,” said Bhong Simbajon of RMN Network.

At present, from the barangay level, law enforcement agencies, local government units to other government offices started to cleanse their organizations in the issue of drugs.    In fact, hundreds of civilians who are drug dependents and pushers already voluntarily submitted themselves to the authorities as the PNP has intensified campaign against drugs

Recalled that Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar on Thursday issued an executive order mandating all city government officials, employees and all law enforcers to undergo mandatory drug test. – Dexter Yap
