Mayor Beng Climaco Tuesday morning thanked residents in Recodo and personnel from Waterborne Operations of the Department of Special Forces School who rescued a stranded juvenile dolphin in Dacon, barangay Recodo in the west coast late Monday afternoon.

Named “Reco” the dolphin measures 1.23 meters in length.

The Waterborne Operations forces headed by Maj. Ford when informed about the stranding incident immediately responded and rescued and kept Reco safe and afloat.

Mayor Climaco has instructed City Veterinarian Dr. Mario Ariolla and his team to closely monitor Reco, as continuous efforts are being done to save the dolphin. Reco is expected to be released back to its natural habitat soon.

The mayor said the preservation of marine life in the city forms part of her administration’s thrust.

She likewise called on all residents of the city to immediately report to authorities, all incidences of animal stranding so that the necessary protocols can be followed. — Sheila Covarrubias
