Mayor Climaco said while those apprehended will be charged in Court by the police, those found positive of drug use will likewise face the consequences based on the provisions of the law.

The City Legal Office is currently looking at the records of those found positive during the random drug tests held last June 30 the day when Mayor Beng Climaco in her inaugural speech announced the issuance of Executive Order 188 directing the mandatory random drug testing of all City Government officials and employees including uniformed personnel assigned in the city in support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s all-out campaign against illegal drugs.

“We will not tolerate such acts”, the mayor said in a radio interview Tuesday, as she expressed dismay over the reported apprehension of three employees from the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) during office hours last Monday.

The mandatory random drug testing will be strengthened, Climaco said, not only to emphasize the city’s unremitting support to the national government’s thrust but likewise to stress on her administration’s flagship program on SHE (security, health and education). — Sheila Covarrubias
