32 Talon-talon fire victims get cash aid from city PDF Print E-mail

Some 32 families displaced by a recent conflagration in Talon-talon received financial assistance from the City Government as part of the city’s continuing social services program.

Mayor Beng Climaco, assisted by personnel from the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Treasurer’s Office, led the distribution held at the mayor’s office Friday afternoon.

The 32 families were affected by two fire incidents that occurred March 10 and April 5 in barangay Talon-talon.  House owners whose houses were totally damaged received P5,000 each while those with partially houses got P3,000 each. House sharers and renters with totally damaged houses also received P3,000 each while house sharers with partially damaged structures got P2,000 each.

The cash assistance amounted to a total of P119,000.

The grant of financial assistance to victims of calamities such as fire, flashfloods, landslides and similar incidents. The amount is set by a resolution approved by the City Disaster Council now the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. — Sheila Covarrubias
