The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) regional office-9 has announced that the four water level monitoring systems installed in Zamboanga City can be of great help as the city is poised to experience La Niña.

Martin Wee, DOST 9 Assistant Regional Director for Administrative Support and Technical Service, said that the water level monitoring system can monitor the water level of particular river areas where the device is installed.

The four water level monitoring systems were installed from 2013 to 2014 at Tumaga river, Pasonanca spill way, Ayala river, and Zamboanga City Water District diversion dam which is located Barangay Pasonanca.
