The City Health Office (CHO) is alarmed over the possible proliferation of fake health cards in Zamboanga City.

“It is very much alarming because we can no longer screen our applicants because they were already given fake cards without passing through laboratory screening,” Dr. Rodelin Agbulos, City Health Officer, said in an interview.

Health cards are being issued to assure that workers are healthy and fit to work. Some of the requirements before a health card is issued are : Occupational permit, foodsafety management seminar certificate,  chest x-ray; stool exam, urinalysis, Hepatitis B test,  drug test and others specified by their employers.

To recall, police conducted last Tuesday an entrapment operation outside the Universidad de Zamboanga building downtown, which resulted in the arrest of Lalyn Sioson Años for alleged falsification of public documents. Confiscated from her possession was a fake health card.

“This will serve as a lesson for those who are doing this the local government already filed the case and we will wait for the proceedings,” Agbulos said.

Aside from this, the matter was also brought to the city legal office for appropriate action.

The city health officer has urged the public to be careful and check their documents.

“We really have to double check…Once we catch somebody doing it answerable akel hende lang quien ta ase hasta aquel quien ya manda ase... we will file charges,” Agbulos emphasized.

To be sure, the public must come only to the CHO to have an authentic health card.— R.G. A A. Go
