10-day Home-based IDP profiling starts today PDF Print E-mail

By SHEILA COVARRUBIASHome-based internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing with families or renting houses in barangays under Baliwasan and Tetuan districts are urged to submit themselves for profiling starting today, July 12 to 22.

Registration centers will be set up at the Sta. Barbara CSWDO-field office and the Tetuan Barangay Hall for the profiling activity organized jointly by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

Home-based IDPs are required to bring any of the following documents for a hassle-free profiling activity: pink family access card, tagging form/number and or certificate from the CSWDO field office.   Barangays covered for profiling are Baliwasan, Zone III, Zone IV, Campo Islam, Kasanyangan, Mariki, Rio Hondo, San Jose Cawa-cawa, San Jose Gusu (to include Suterville), Upper Calarian (to include Southcom Village), Sta. Barbara and Sta. Catalina for Baliwasan District and Tetuan, Tugbungan, Arena Blanco, Divisoria, Putik, Mampang, Lumbangan, Lunsuran, Guiwan, Boalan and Talon-talon for Tetuan district.

Meanwhile, the CSWDO will at the same time enlist home-based IDPs who wish to undergo skills training program with employment facilitation services during the profiling activity. The 25-day skills training program conducted at the Our Lady of Triumph Institute in Ozamis City is based on a memorandum of agreement forged by the city and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which provides the funding for the training.

Home-based IDPs are families displaced by the 2013 siege and are temporarily residing with their families or friends or renting private houses outside the transitory sites.  — Sheila Covarrubias
