After ordering a mandatory drug test on city government officials and employees, Mayor Beng Climaco has declared her all-out support for the snowballing motive to subject all government workers, this time to a lifestyle check as earlier instigated by Pres. Duterte.

Mayor Climaco, however, said there has been no official directive yet on the matter from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

“It’s important that we have a memorandum from the DILG so that we, in the local government units, are properly guided,” Climaco said, but just the same like the drug test, she ordered it even without the DILG guidelines.

“We support the President’s programs not only against illegal drugs but also the lifestyle check to prove that we are not using government money for our personal interest,” Climaco declared during the press briefing in City Hall Monday.

“Pero importante gayot tiene gayot deretivo para propio guiao el maga gobierno local,” she said.

Meanwhile, Climaco has made it clear from the start that the campaign against illegal drugs in Zamboanga does not only focus on the users but also on big-time pushers and those involved in large scale drug trafficking.

Climaco said the Philippine National Police (PNP) was really firm in supporting the plan of Pres. Duterte and the city government as always has been in the forefront not only of fighting the drug users.

“The biggest challenge right now is that we have to nab the big-time pushers and those involved in large scale drug distribution for them to be penalized accordingly. That is a concerted effort for all of us,” the chief executive said Monday.— Vic Larato
