11 trafficking victims rescued, recruiter falls PDF Print E-mail

Eleven would-be victims of human trafficking have been rescued at dawn Wednesday in a local hotel.

Police said the rescue operation was carried out at the Viva Pension House where the alleged illegal recruiter was arrested.

Police said that other suspects escaped aboard a Starex van with plate number JCG 681 that sped towards Arena Blanco.

Moments later, the vehicle was recovered by policemen of the Tetuan Police Station led by Supt. Nonito Asdai near the Masepla transitory site in Arena Blanco.

Immediately policemen accompanied by the Bomb Squad conducted a safety procedure paneling to clear the van from any explosive.

The rescued victims underwent profiling and were assisted by personnel of the DSWD.

The victims came from different places and they were promised good jobs in Dubai, Singapore and Saudi Arabia as domestic helpers. They were about to exite through the southern backdoor via a wooden hulled seacraft.

The rescue operation was conducted by men of the PCG-FSSWM, PCTC-MFU/PAOC, NISG-WM, PNP-IG, DSWD RO9, CSWD), WCPD-MFU, PS 11, ZCPO, DOJ-IACAT 9, D2 PAF and SBATTF. – Dan Toribio
