Men of the Tetuan Police Station led by Supt. Nonito Asdai recovered 2,000 illegal-cut mangrove woods  and charcoal at the shores of Gaganao Cruz Drive, Mampang last Wednesday afternoon.

Asdai and his men were on a roving patrol around 3 p.m. when they spotted a pile of cut mangroves.

Immediately they approached the area and recovered the woods.

Asdai said that aside from the cut mangroves, they also found a pile of charcoal.

Police suspected that the illegal cutters left the place after sensing the arrival of the lawmen.

After proper documentation at the police station, Asdai turned over the confiscated wood to the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources and was received by Mr. Paulino Pilanga III in Pasonanca.

Police were still trying to determine the identities of the suspects. – Dan Torbio
