Mayor Beng Climaco has issued an executive order (EO) lifting the declaration of Acute Gastroenteritis outbreak in the city in view of the continuous decline in the number of admissions the past weeks.

EO 195-2016 is based on the July 4 report of the City Health Office indicating a “continuously decreasing” AGE cases in the city nullifying EO 174 issued on May 4, 2016 and EO 181 dated May 27, 2016.

In his report, City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos said there were 3,870 cases admitted in different hospitals in the city due to AGE from March 28 to June 30, 2016 with 23 deaths recorded.

The number of admitted AGE cases in May was 1,474 which was 5% lower than the number admitted in April, and 422 in June, which showed a dramatic decrease compared to the admitted cases in April.

Mayor Climaco said collaborative community and inter-agency responses were conducted to control the outbreak, continuous surveillance of AGE cases and health promotions and advocacies are being pursued in communities to ensure it is reduced if not eradicated.
