The City Tourism Office joins in the 4th Farm Tourism Conference in Tagaytay City which started July 14, up to July 16.

Sarita Sebastian Hernandez, city tourism officer, said the conference aims to introduce innovations on how to cultivate profit through the growing industry of the farm tourism as well as to raise awareness on the benefits of farm tourism, promoting destinations and products from all over the country.

In addition, best practices coming from the local and international experts are also expected during the event.

The tourism officer said farm tourism is a convergence of both farm and tourism, farm-tourism is a tourism concept coined by the former Department of Tourism (DOT) secretary, Mina Gabor in 2013.

Farm is primarily on food production and tourism conventionally is on culture, history, and sites, with farm-tourism, farm becomes a contributor in tourism through farm activities.

Last year, the office came up with an additional tour menu- the farm tour, where the NJB farm in barangay Ayala and the Dragon Fruit Farm in barangay Cacao are showcased as appropriate models of a true farm experience.

Dragon Fruit Farm owners Maricor Ramos and Johanna Santos are expected to join the conference.
