The Commission on Population-9 (Popcom-9) is supportive of President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s three-child advocacy to better the lives of Filipino families.

“Supportive kami kung advocacy pero kung policiya siya hindi pwede dahil lalabag tayo sa informed choice and volunteerism,” Reynaldo O. Wong, Popcom 9 regional director said in an interview.

Aside from this, Wong revealed that the Reproductive Health Law will also be fully implemented this year.

The full implementation of the RH law , he said, is included in the Duterte administration’s 10-conomic agenda.

RH law ensures access to reproductive health information, life-saving commodities, and services to reduce maternal mortality and empower families to decide the number and spacing of their children.

There are elements of reproductive health care which includes the following: Family planning information and services which shall include as a first priority making women of reproductive age fully aware of their respective cycles to make them aware of when fertilization is highly probable, as well as highly improbable; Maternal, infant and child health and nutrition, including breastfeeding; Proscription of abortion and management of abortion complications; Adolescent and youth reproductive health guidance and counseling; Prevention, treatment and management of reproductive tract infections (RTIs), HIV and AIDS and other sexually transmittable infections (STIs); Elimination of violence against women and children and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence; Education and counseling on sexuality and reproductive health; Treatment of breast and reproductive tract cancers and other gynecological conditions and disorders; Male responsibility and involvement and men’s reproductive health; Prevention, treatment and management of infertility and sexual dysfunction; Reproductive health education for the adolescents; and Mental health aspect of reproductive health care.
