Supt. Salbino C. Piad, chief of the Regional Maritime Unit-9 togeher with Sr. Insp. Wilfredo A. Abellon, chief of the 901st Maritime Station. led troopers Thursday in conducting mangroves propagules planting at the Asinan coast, Barangay Manicahan.

The tree planting was part of the Philippine National Police 21st Police Community Relation month celebration.

“We started planting 150 mangrove propagules around 7:00 up to 9:30 in the morning during a lowtide. After the tree planting, we will check it and visit from time to time to ensure that it will survive and grow,” Piad said.

He said the activity will help maintain a sustainable maritime environment protection and preservation.

Piad urged the barangay officials and the people living nearby to help monitor and protect  the newly planted mangrove propagules because it is  for them and their children. —Allen Abastillas
