A five-year-old boy drowned in the pool of a resort in Patalon while two teens landed in the hospital after they too almost drowned in the mangrove of  Canelar, Mampang last Friday.

The Labuan police had received a report around 2:40 p.m. that there was a drowning incident in a resort in Patalon. The victim Tupay Wahiddan Jr., y Villanueva, of Sta. Catalina, was rushed to the Labuan Hospital where he was declared dead by the physicians who earlier tried to revive him.

Initial investigation showed that the boy together with relatives and were having a picnicwhen he accidentally fell into the pool.

Immediately lifeguards Alvin Muhmin and Jayvin Principal plucked the boy from the water and rushed him  to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Crystal Joy Rizad, 15 and Ralf Francisco, 16, both residents of Canelar, Mampang went swimming at the mangroves shortly before noon when they failed to swim back to the shore.

Residents rescued and brought them to the hospital for treatment. – Dan Toribio
