The relentless war against illegal drugs has resulted to the surrender of 1,999 drug suspects in Lamitan City since July 2.

Out of 1,999 users, 23 were women one of whom a pusher. Another surrenderer is a 70-year- old woman. The youngest is a 14-year-old boy who started using drugs at the age of 12.

Lamitan City police chief Sr. Inspector Gean Gallardo urged the pushers to turn over their drug items so that their yielding to the authorities will be is real and true and there will be no more drugs to sell or tempted to buy by the users.

Gallardo  assured that he will help pushers reform and become a new person if they also surrender their drug items.

Mayor Rose U. Furigay commended Gallardo for working hand in hand with the Special Action Force, Provincial Public Safety Battalion, Regional Public Safety Battalion, Scout Rangers, Special Forces and the Armed Forces of the Philippines in addressing the drug menace in the city.

“If they will recommend me to have a dialogue with users we will do it for them. I hope their yielding to the police will be fruitful and they will stop using the illegal drugs  and become a good persons in the city,” Furigay said. —Allen Abastillas
