KORONADAL CITY — A former Marine officer was the latest person engaged in illegal drugs arrested by police here during intensified campaign against illegal drugs, Supt. Barney Condes, Koronadal City police director said.

Condes told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida that ex-Marine Officer Gerte Bancuyo, 37, a resident of Barangay Topland, Koronadal City was arrested during an illegal drug buy bust operation by Koronadal City PNP and agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-12) at 8 a.m. Friday.

He showed up to the Koronadal City police office in response to calls for illegal drug personalities to voluntarily surrender.

But after he took his oath of undertaking before police officials, Bancuyo reportedly returned to his old ways. This prompted the police and PDEA to conduct a buy bust oepration, Condes said.

“He was under surveillance for days and he is our No. 10 most wanted person in illegal drug activities,” Condes said of the suspect who was assigned in Jolo, Sulu while still in active military service.

The raiding team seized the Php1,500 marked money used in procuring illegal drugs, “shabu” paraphernalia, three sachets of shabu and a mobile phone.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 have been filed against the suspect.
