Akbar leads MEDCAP, VETCAP in Lantawan PDF Print E-mail

LANTAWAN, Basilan – Thousands of residents availed of free services from the all in-one multi-agency outreach program held last Thursday in Barangay Tairan in this municipality.

The outreach mission, spearheaded by Gov. Jum Akbar, coincided with the culmination of the Nutrition Month celebration wherein the different barangays of this town have showcased their respectively delicacies.

The Medical, Dental, and Civil Action Program (MEDCAP) and Veterinary Civic Action Program (VETCAP) was held jointly by the provincial government, Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), police, military, PhilHealth, civic organizations and the U.S. military forces.

The residents of Tairan as well as that from the nearby barangays availed free medical consultations and dental services as well as given free medicines and vitamins.
Hundreds of children from this village and of the nearby villages were also fed with nutritious food while farm animals were vaccinated. 

Akbar has declared that there will be more conduct of MEDCAP and VETCAP in this town as well as in other municipalities of this province in the coming days.

Akbar expressed her gratitude to the different agencies that participated in the outreach mission.

An open forum was also conducted wherein resource speakers of the different agencies discussed about their respective programs and concerns and how the people could avail of their services.

Akbar also inspected the soon-to-be completed Matarling-Tairan road, which serves as one of the main thoroughfare of this town.
