The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) aims to fully maximize its production efforts this week following the production and delivery deficiencies experienced by the City the past few days due to the inclement weather and flooding.

Engr. Teotimo Reyes on Monday during the press conference at City Hall assured the public that the ZCWD is working to recover its production efficiency to ensure continuous water supply to all its service areas.

“I hope we will be able to recover our efficiency last week. As of last night there was no more chemical treatment, we expect to fully maximize our production in the plants. We will be able to cover up our deficiency last week so that all areas will be served well today,” Reyes said.

He explained that several service areas experienced low pressure and rationing in the past days due to incidents disrupting water production, including technical problems in the treatment plant, leakages, generator hitches, and flooding.

Reyes said the flood decreased production and affected a big portion of the service areas of ZCWD, which led to rationing and reduction of services in the east coast.

However, operations have been fully resumed and Reyes expressed hope in recovering their production efficiency.

Moreover, with the weather and recent rainfall, the ZCWD is closely monitoring dam levels to determine if water rationing will be implemented in the coming days.

As of Monday, August 1, water level at the dam was 74.18 meters. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
