DTI conducts orientation on PQA and PQC PDF Print E-mail

The Department of Trade and Industry-9 (DTI-9) conducted on Thursday at a local hotel  an orientation on the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) and the Philippine Quality Challenge (PQC).

DTI senior trade and industry development specialist Phillip Jason P. Roque said in that with this orientation, they are promoting DTI’s PQA and PQC program.

PQA is a template to be used by businesses and offices to achieve performance excellence while the PQC is a stepping stone towards achieving PQA.

PQC is also an assessment program, a consultancy program, and at the same time a recognition program.

During the orientation, the participants were given an overview on what is PQA and PQC. Present during the orientation were small and large companies, private, government sector, academe and others.

He said that this is timely especially with the ASEAN integration where the airport and seaport will be open to the residents of ASEAN countries to include their products and professionals could also work in the ASEAN nation.

Countries included in the ASEAN integration are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Maraming negosyo ngayon after itayo ilang taon lang nagsasara na agad they are not competitive enough para maki pagsabayan sa ibang negosyo. It is important to have a performance excellence management tools para maisaayos yung pagpapatakbo ng negosyo at maging competitive not only yung produkto mong ibibigay sa customers at the same time the entire organization is competitive para makipaglaban sa ibang competitors not only in the Philippines even abroad,” Roque said.

He also added that not only private companies are interested with PQA and PQC even government offices. “Hindi lang private sector and nag iisip ngayon ng quality even the government they want to improve their services,” the trade and industry development specialist said.

Sharing of best practices were also done by PQA and PQC 2013 awardees. The Linkage to Excellent Alternative for Non-Core Processes, Inc who was a PQC 2013 awardee shared their best practices while for PQA, Ciudad Medical Zamboanga (CMZ) also shared their best practices.

Meanwhile, Atty. Jhihann C. Hairun-Natividad, CMZ Chief Executive Officer said that the lessons from PQA, feedbacks they got from the PQA assessors, they are still using it up to now for their organizational management and improvement of the hospital’s performance.
