Ten more persons were arrested as the campaign against illegal drugs continues in Zamboanga City.

The arrests were made in two recent police operations in Sta. Catalina and Sta. Maria.

Around 5:45 p.m. Friday, men of the Culianan Police Station led by Chief Insp. Elmer Solon conducted a buy-bust operation at the storage of Mercedes passenger jeepneys in Sta. Catalina resulting in the arrest of six persons.

Solon said the buy-bust operation targeted Jalil Sayari Langkasari, 33, married who was held after marked money and shabu changed hands with a police undercover agent.

Solon and his men confiscated from Langkasari’s possession eight sachets of shabu.

During the operation, policemen also arrested Albert Lagata Toribio, 40, married, a jeepney driver of Mercedes, Ricardo Santos Limen, 50, jeepney conductor of Sta. Catalina, Reynold Galvez Climaco, 28, jeepney conductor of Lugakit, Salaan, Nickol Sinining Rodriguez, 21, of Buenakapok, Culianan and Rickson Claveria Dondoyano, 21, parking boy of Sta. Catalina. They were caught engaging in a shabu session aboard a passenger jeep.

Around 5:15 p.m. Saturday, men of the Sta. Maria Police Station led by SPO4 Ruben Najirul under the supervision of Supt. Haywien Salvado conducted a buy-bust operation in Climaco Compound in Sta. Maria that resulted in the arrest of Franceslyn Constantino y Cervantes, 27,  Abdurahman Uddin y Lopez, 26, Abdulla Uddin y Lopez, 29, single both of Sunrise Drive, Sta. Maria and Wilfredo Lacerna y Sidipoy, 53, of Baliwasan Tabuk. Confiscated from their possession were one medium size sachet of shabu, three small size sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and P1,000 marked money.

All those arrested were detained at police stations.

The seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination. —  Dan Toribio
