The City Council of Lamitan City has passed resolution calling for the conversion of the second floor of the building into a total session hall and for the expansion of the council building for the construction of offices of each member and the office of Vice Mayor Roderick H. Furigay.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Joaquin “ Boy” Puri Jr. during session presided by Councilor Clarito “ Itoy “ San Juan, was approved by majority of the council members.     During the deliberation, Puri explained that there is a need to convert and expand the present City Council  Session Hall because it is small and can not accommodate big large number of guests and visitors.

He said each member should have an office in the first floor of the building which is at present occupied by the Regional Trial Court.

“Each member of the City Council should have an office,” Puri said.

Vice Mayor Furigay had tasked  San Juan to preside at the time because he went to distribute a and relief goods to residents of Barangay Sabung who are affected by the ongoing military operations against Abu Sayyaf in Tipo-Tipo.

The resolution also tasked City Engineer Ignacio Enriquez to conduct a feasibilitiy study on how to convert and expand the City Council session hall and for the construction of new offices.

“It is very sad to know that we members of the City Council have no Offices,” Puri said. — Allen Abastillas
