Mayor Beng Climaco on Sunday instructed the regional police director, Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, and the officer-in-charge of the Zamboanga City Police Office, Sr. Supt. Luisito Magnaye, to conduct an immediate investigation of all drug personalities, especially drug linked police, within their respective areas of responsibility (AOR).

Climaco issued the order after Pres. Rodrigo Duterte named alleged drug personalities in Zamboanga as P/Chief Inspector Ibrahim Jambiran, PO1 Omar Juaini, PO1 Rommel Mansol and SPO1 Joel “Totong” Valdez.

Initial report by the Philippine National Police (PNP) showed that those mentioned had already been assigned outside Zamboanga City.

The report disclosed that PCI Jambiran was assigned in Tacloban, PO1 Juaini in Zamboanga Sibugay, and PO1 Mansol in Zamboanga del Norte.

SPO1 Valdez, meanwhile, has already retired from service but he surrendered Sunday morning to Police Station 6 commander Supt. Nonito Asdai, and was advised to report to the Police Regional Office 9 before reporting to PNP Director General Ranald “Bato” dela Rosa.

As this developed, Climaco also instructed Supt. Magnaye to expedite the mandatory drug test on all PNP personnel assigned in Zamboanga City as drug testing kits have been turned over by the city government through the City Health Office to the PNP Crime Laboratory.

“We must fight the drug menace aggressively!” the mayor ordered. — Vic Larato
